English Language Learners
The English Language Institute provides intensive English training designed to meet the academic needs of Millersville’s international students. The program is non-credit and is a pathway to meeting admissions requirements to academic programs for both undergraduate and graduate programs. Successful completion will equip them to be successful throughout their academic career.

Accreditation
Conditional Admission
Upon arrival students are given a placement tests so that we know exactly what skills need to be developed to ensure a successful academic transitions at MU. You can complete the program in one or two semesters, depending on your current level of proficiency.
English Language Institute students are able to concurrently enroll in academic courses in levels 4, 5 and 6.

Application Deadline
Full-time ESL students are admitted on a rolling basis based on space availability. Students seeking conditional admissions must work with their respective academic program to ensure application deadlines are met. They should apply for conditional admission through the appropriate admissions office for their intended degree—Undergraduate Admissions or Graduate Admissions.

Semester Start Date
International students in the English Language Institute can choose to begin their studies in the fall semester, spring semester, or during the summer each year. These are:
- Fall - late August
- Spring - mid January
- Summer - early June

- Permanent Residents and U.S. Citizens can be enrolled in full-time, part-time, or register for a single class.
FAFSA and other U.S. government-funded scholarships and grants cannot be used toward payment for the ELI.
