English Language Institute

The English Language Institute provides intensive English training for international students at Millersville. This non-credit program helps students meet the English language requirements for admission to undergraduate and graduate programs. It is a pathway to academic success, preparing students with the skills they need to excel throughout their studies at Millersville.

Conditional Admission

When you arrive, you will take a test to check your English skills. This helps us know what you need to improve for success at Millersville.

You can finish the program in one or two semesters, depending on your English level.

In levels 4, 5, and 6, you can take English classes and academic courses at the same time.

Application Deadline

Full-time ESL students can be admitted at any time, depending on space availability. Students seeking conditional admission must ensure they meet the application deadlines for their chosen degree program. To apply, they should work with their academic program and submit their application through the appropriate admissions office: Undergraduate Admissions for a bachelor’s or associate degree or Graduate Admissions for a master’s or doctoral degree. Semester Start Date

International students in the English Language Institute can choose to begin their studies in the fall semester, spring semester, or during the summer each year. These are:

  • Fall - late August
  • Spring - mid January
  • Summer - early June

FAFSA and other U.S. government-funded scholarships and grants cannot be used toward payment for the ELI.
