Robert L. Shoener & Alan K. Wyand

FIAT LUX SOCIETY MEMBERS

Mr. Shoener and Mr. WyandIn their dedication to supporting music students at Millersville University, Robert L. Shoener and Alan K. Wyand have provided valuable educational opportunities for students through the Alan K. Wyand and Robert L. Shoener Scholarship.  The Alan K. Wyand and Robert L. Shoener Scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in voice, with first preference given to those with demonstrated financial need. They also have contributed to the Alan K. Wyand and Robert L. Shoener annual award. Here at Millersville University, Robert is a member of the 1855 Society; has taken part in a number of Celebrate Scholars Luncheons and various University events; and was a recipient, along with Alan, of the 2018 Susan C. and Gerald C. Eckert Service and Philanthropy Award. Robert and Alan are also both members of the Hobbs-Wickersham Society.

Shoener and Wyand are both retired educators who co-founded the Composers Society, a distinction given to the academy's highest donors.  Since 2003, Shoener and Wyand also have served on the committee for Music in Every Home, an annual academy fundraiser consisting of a series of concerts in private homes.  Pennsylvania Academy of Music has also named Robert Shoener and Alan Wyand Volunteers of the Year in 2009.  The distinction honors PAM volunteers for outstanding service to the academy, which provides comprehensive music education for children and adults through private and classroom instruction and performance opportunities.
