How to Join

The process of joining a fraternity or sorority is one of mutual selection. Each governing council has a different structure for bringing new members into organizations. Students are encouraged to do their research on all the organizations recognized at Millersville University. Below are the general requirements for all students. Please be advised that some organizations have minimum credit hour and GPA requirements that are higher. Once an individual is selected/invited to join, all groups have an education/orientation period for new members to familiarize themselves with the organization and members prior to initiation. All new member education concludes by the 2nd Sunday in November for the Fall semester and by the first Sunday in April for the Spring semester.

Recruitment and Membership Intake

Students who are interested in joining one of Millersville's Interfraternity Council (IFC), Panhellenic Council (NPC) organizations, or Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, will participate in a process called recruitment. IFC, NPC, along with individual chapters, will host a series of programs that provide potential new members an opportunity to learn about each of the chapters.

In the spring term, all prospective members for our four Panhellenic sororities must register for Panhellenic Primary Recruitment -- a 2 or 3 day recruitment weekend that has formal round-robin sessions for perspective members to learn more about the organizations culminating in a mutual-selection process. Registration for Panhellenic Recruitment Spring 2025 will open in Fall 2024.

Students who are interested in joining one of Millersville's culturally-based fraternities or sororities will participate in a process called Membership Intake. Students are encouraged to attend these organizations' events throughout the year to learn more about the chapter. Chapters will typically host a formal Informational session at the beginning of the semester to discuss their intake requirements. Contact the Department of Campus Life or the organizations primary contact on Get Involved for additional information.

All Prospective New Members for all councils must complete documentation to verify their eligibility to join a fraternity or sorority prior to being extended an invitation of membership.  For more information stop by the Campus Life Office, email fsl@millersville.edu, or visit the FSL Get Involved Page!
