Attending the Evolution of Psychotherapy Conference
Name: Garber,
Advisor: Karen Rice
Department: Social Work
Award: Student Research Grant
Abstract: I am enthusiastic about attending this year’s Evolution of Psychotherapy conference in Orlando, Florida. As an undergraduate student at Messiah University, I pursued courses in Social Work, English, Psychology, and Music. These courses allowed me to develop a strong knowledge base in human development, family structure, music theory, and social policies. It was in these courses that I discovered a desire and a passion for psychotherapy. Presently, as an MSW student at Millersville University, I have the opportunity this semester to facilitate a six-week Psychotherapy Expressive Arts Group for students at Franklin and Marshall College, where I am interning as a counselor for the 2022-23 academic year. Attending the Evolution of Psychotherapy Orlando, this fall would enable me to better serve, advocate and empower my clients.
