Abstract: As archivists and historians have begun acknowledging the damaging ways that people belonging to margin-alized
groups have been described in the past, there has been a significant call to action to help address this inequity. Through this process of reparative description, scholars hope to reinterpret records, erase descriptive language that perpetuates harmful stereotypes, and allow marginalized groups to speak for themselves whenever possible. This need for reparative description is present in all archives, including Millersville University's. In acknowledging its own need for reparative description and addressing it as scholarly understanding of the subject evolves, Millersville can establish itself as a regional example of how this reparative process should be handled.
