The Whole Over the Parts
Name: Rudig,

Abstract: “The Whole Over the Parts” is an exploration of how simple parts, in this case single necklaces and rings, can create a more complicated whole. This project was inspired by the word “gestalt”, a psychological theory that emphasizes that the sum of something is greater than its parts. I will be creating two final pieces for this project, a set of stacked necklaces and a set of stacked rings that when worn together create a well-balanced ensemble. The idea behind this project is how simple, dainty jewelry items, that may seem dull on their own, can be combined to create an eye-catching and harmonious statement piece. This project will allow me to improve my skill level while learning new skills, including chain making, jewelry clasp knowledge, and stone setting techniques.
