Abstract: As Human Machine Interfaces (HMI's) are being integrated with existing Programmable Logic Controllers at manufacturing facility workstations, it will be valuable to have a Local Area Network (LAN) to demonstrate supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) in applications that can be utilized to augment manufacturing execution system (MES) technologies. However, no LAN or SCADA exit to support MES. The goal of this project is to develop and deploy a facility-wide SCADA network to facilitate the future development of MES and industry 4.0 technologies. Furthermore, the proposed system will provide distributed control from a host that will enable access to other workstation PLCs and HMIs.
