Fall 2023 Celebration of Faculty

Scholarship, Promotion and Tenure

This University-wide event hosted by the Provost and Dean’s Council is an opportunity for faculty to share and be recognized for their recent scholarly and creative work. Faculty were invited to present their scholarship and creativity by way of research posters, video or audio recordings, works of art, or hard-copy books and article reprints.

Faculty excellence and success in the classroom, mentoring, and advising is evidenced by our students thriving on campus, completing their degrees and succeeding after Millersville. However, faculty excellence and success as scholars and practitioners in their fields are not as readily evident to the campus community.

Cheers to MU Faculty!

Spring 2024 Celebration of Faculty Excellence in Pedagogy and Student Engagement

The Provost’s Office and Dean’s Council hosted a second university wide celebration of faculty.  The Spring 2024 celebration showcased faculty innovation and excellence in teaching and mentoring Millersville students. The event took place from 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2024.

All tenured and tenure-track faculty were invited to present their pedagogical best practices, high-impact experiences, or scholarship of teaching through poster presentations, video or audio demonstrations, or published articles and books.  They shared any evidence-based innovative practices and original scholarship of teaching implemented during the past three years, including any assessments of the same that you have performed, in the following categories:

  • Active Learning Strategies
  • Academic Advising or Mentoring
  • AI in the Classroom
  • Authentic Assessment Practices
  • Culturally Relevant Teaching
  • High-Impact Experiences, including Undergraduate Research
  • Integration of Instructional and Educational Technologies in the Classroom
  • Scholarship of Teaching
  • Universal Design for Learning

The event was intended to be an information exchange and learning opportunity. Faculty ensured that their presentations highlighted the theory, evidence, distinguishing methods, and key take-aways for their practices or research.  Faculty were also encouraged to share ideas for next steps and future development of instructional and student engagement strategies.

Faculty who presented their scholarship on this topic at the Fall 2023 celebration were welcome to present that work again the Spring.

We anticipate continuing this biannual rotation, with the Fall celebrations featuring general scholarship, creative activity, and contributions to your field, and Spring celebrations recognizing your innovations and research in pedagogy and student engagement at Millersville.

This event was intended to declare the importance of and support for our faculty, who consistently demonstrate the teacher-scholar philosophy, facilitate collaboration and exchange among faculty and encourage continued faculty scholarship and creative activity.
