2024 parade participant general information!

ORIGINAL EMAIL SENT MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 AFTER 6:00PM TO THE MAIN POINT OF CONTACT ENTERED ON THE REGISTRATION FORM.

INFORMATION BELOW IS ONLY APPLICABLE TO THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THE PARADE OFFICE AND BEEN CONFIRMED/APPROVED TO BE IN THE PARADE. 

Please read all material thoroughly. Instructions for the day of the event are shared below as you prepare for your arrival and participation.

Division Lineup Assignment Card. 

Please print ONE COPY and bring with you. (i.e., all 50 marching band members do not need to have it printed in order to line up; just the conductor/point person).  WRITE YOUR POSITION NUMBER ON YOUR  LINEUP CARD.
REPORT TIMES:
  • Division A entries report at 7:00 AM
  • Division B entries report at 7:15 AM
  • Division C entries report at 7:30 AM 
  • Parade start time at 8:30 AM
 
REPORT LOCATION – Staging Area for Start of Parade:
Please be sure to arrive promptly at the time noted above in order to avoid delayed start.

LINEUP INSTRUCTIONS:
  • You are the only member of your group receiving this information. Please share with everyone in your group.
  • Parade staff will direct you to your position location upon arrival at PMHS.
  • The lineup is locked in! There will be no changes to this lineup after receiving this email.
  • Follow the direction of all parade staff, volunteers, and fire/police officials.

PARKING: Parking for non-parade vehicles will be at Millersville University (MU).  There is no parking at Penn Manor High School for any parade participants.   Address for parking:

Parking Instructions:
  • ADA parking is available at PMHS.
  • A temporary parking location is available at PMHS (5-minute limit).
  • No chaperones are permitted to park and stay with participants using the temporary parking. They must immediately leave and park at the James Street lot and utilize the shuttle service.
SHUTTLE:  All parade participants MUST take the shuttle. Shuttles will depart from the Lombardo Welcome Center/MU and drop off at PMHS.  Return shuffle service is also available.  Shuttles will run continuously 5:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Please allow additional travel time to Millersville, parking, shuttle, and report location!
 
All registered Floats, Vehicles, and Walkers ONLY: Report to Staging Areas for Divisions A, B, and C. No other vehicles are permitted in staging areas including busses.
 
ENTERTAINMENT GROUPS: MUTV (student lead organization of broadcasting students) will be livestreaming the Parade, which will be available on the MU website. As you near the end of the parade, you should prepare your final performance to be as you are approaching MU Library at the intersection of George & Frederick Streets, where the main camera crew will be.  This is a walking parade. There is no competition, no judging, and no stops along the route. We ask all groups to keep moving and “go with the flow” of the parade.
LIVESTREAM: For your friends and families unable to travel to the parade, a livestream will be available via the Millersville University Alumni Facebook page.

ENTRY TYPE
(Alphabetical)

DEFINITION

ANIMAL ENTRY Animals may not be cruelly exploited, endangered or abused in the process of the parade. All animals must be controlled by means of a harness, halter or leash if not otherwise contained. Equine and other animal units must provide their own clean-up personnel.
ANTIQUE or CLASSIC VEHICLE An antique/classic vehicle is a vehicle that is 25 years or older (1999 or older). A newer, classic, or collectible vehicles built in 1999 or later are welcome to participate in the parade.
BATON TWIRLING Any baton/twirling group.
COLOR GUARD & MILITARY Any color guard (including military) not marching with an instrumental or non-instrumental entity.
FLOAT A float, decorated for theme competition, that will be pulled by a vehicle or self-propelled wagon. This entry could include both a moving vehicle and a team of walkers.
INSTRUMENTAL  A musical group (either marching or riding), that perform throughout the length of the parade.
NON-INSTRUMENTAL MARCHING Any group walking through the parade route with any of the following: similar dress, synchronized movement or organized choreography, that perform throughout the length of the parade.
