Paul Murr is the Instrumental Music Coordinator in the Lancaster Catholic Deanery Schools. He conducts the High School Concert Band as well as the Middle School Gold Band and Elementary Purple Band. He is also the Director and Percussion Arranger for the Lancaster Catholic Marching Band as well as the Percussion Ensemble Director. The LCHS Percussion section has won Championship High Percussion caption awards in the USSBA, TOB and Cavalcade of Bands circuits under Mr. Murr. The LCHS Percussion Ensemble has performed at the PAS Day of Percussion and PMEA All State Convention and have just finished their first commission. Members of Mr. Murr’s percussion studio have won awards at the County, District, Region, State and National levels.
In addition to his teaching schedule Paul is an active freelance percussionist. He has a diverse performing and recording career. He is a percussionist with the Allegro Orchestra in Lancaster and as a drum set artist he has worked with artists Jeffrey Gaines, Jackie Evancho, Fauna Flora, Darcie Miner and numerous singer songwriters from the Mid Atlantic region. A proponent of New Music, Paul held the percussion duties with the Nakedeye Ensemble through 2017. He can be heard on their upcoming release, “Storylines Crossing.” He holds a BA in Music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he studied percussion with Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame member Dr. Gary Olmstead.
