Singer, songwriter, and teacher Brandon Martinez is an Assistant Professor of Music
(Voice) at Millersville University of Pennsylvania and also serves as Coordinator of the
Voice Department.
As an educator, Mr. Martinez has taught in the private studio, classroom, conservatory,
and as a masterclass clinician. Prior to his appointment at the Tell School of Music, he
served on the faculties of The Ailey School, Concord Academy, Cape Cod
Conservatory, and Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts. He also maintains private voice
studios in Boston and New York City. An advocate of healthy and pedagogically-sound
singing, Mr. Martinez’s teaching spans the styles of classical, musical theater, pop, folk,
R&B, indie, and rap. Current and former students of his have performed on Broadway,
NBC’s The Voice, have released streaming independent albums, sung with Boston Lyric
Opera, Tanglewood Festival Chorus, Handel and Hayden Society, and many others.
As a performing artist, Mr. Martinez hails from an eclectic musical background . Mr.
Martinez began his professional singing career at a young age, and was a member of
the Grammy Award winning ensembles, Texas Boys Choir and Phoenix Boys Choir.
With them he performed extensively throughout the states of Texas and Arizona and
was part of multiple tours around the United States. After receiving his training as a
baritone, Mr. Martinez began his classical performing career with Fort Worth Opera,
Opera Providence, Boston Opera Collaborative, and Opera del West. In 2013 he
shifted his performing career to commercial music and was asked to join The Arch
Street Band, a contemporary worship band in Boston, MA. With them he has been their
lead singer, traveled throughout the New England area, performed at Fenway Park, was
featured in and on PANORAMA Magazine, and recorded their most recent album, New
Psalms & Old Blues. In 2017 Mr. Martinez released his solo debut EP, This Is Me,
which features his original songs in a piano-based folk soul sound.
Mr. Martinez holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Texas Christian University, M.M.
in Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory of Music and a M.M. in Vocal
Pedagogy from New England Conservatory. He also studied at the American Institute
of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria. He is an award winner in the Peter Elvins
Vocal Competition, Orpheus Vocal Competition, and NATS area competitions. His
major teachers include J. David Brock, Carole Haber, Braden Harris, and Chadley
Ballantyne.
