Anne Stuart has been a music educator at the elementary and middle school level for the past 20 years in Penn Manor and Cumberland Valley School Districts and in Harford County, Maryland. She has been honored as a Top 10 Educator in Harford County, a finalist for Harford County Teacher of the Year, nominated by parents and students as a Grammy Teacher of the Year and a Penn Manor Teacher of the Year. During her tenure at Fountain Green Elementary School in Harford County, the school was named a 2015 Maryland State and National Blue Ribbon School based on the academic and artistic accomplishments and focus on educating the whole child.
Mrs. Stuart has mentored certified teachers and student interns/teachers with a focus on purposeful lesson development, execution and classroom management. She has lead and facilitated music and grade-level classroom teacher professional development, specifically in integrating music and the common core curriculum and teacher evaluation /student learning objectives. She also developed an all-school music program based on the Kodaly and Orff methods which is inclusive to the needs and success of all students. She was a member of the Harford County Public Schools Educator Effectiveness Council, the Teacher Evaluation Pilot based on the Danielson model and E-Portfolio Pilot for the Maryland State Department of Education.
Mrs. Stuart graduated Magna Cum Laude from Millersville University with a Bachelors in Music Education where she was awarded the Music Faculty Award. She earned her Kodály Certification from Texas State University and Orff Certification from West Chester University. She has studied voice under retired Millersville University Professor Walter Blackburn and the legendary Dr. Thomas Houser. She is an active member of the National Association for Music Educators, the Organization of American Kodály Educators and the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.
