If you're a student called to active duty or deployed overseas, Millersville University is committed to supporting your academic journey through a Military Leave of Absence. This benefit ensures you can pause your studies without penalty and return when you're ready.
Please note: This policy applies only to students called to active duty or deployed, not to those enlisting in the military or attending basic training. Below are the steps and resources available to help you manage your academic responsibilities while serving.

How to Apply for a Military Leave of Absence
If you’ve been called to active duty or deployment, follow these steps to request a military leave of absence:

Submit the Following Documents to the Registrar’s Office:
- A completed Military Leave of Absence Form.
- A copy of your Military Deployment Orders.

When to Apply for a Military Leave of Absence
If You Cannot Complete the Semester
If you're unable to finish the current semester due to your military service, you will be granted a Military Leave of Absence. This allows you to return in a future semester without any penalties.
If You Plan to Return This Semester
If you're planning to return to complete the semester after your military service, contact your faculty immediately to discuss the missed work and explore options for finishing your courses instead of takin a Military Leave of Absence.

Accommodations for Active Military Duty
Millersville University will work closely with you to ensure your transition to active duty is as smooth as possible. Contact the Registrar’s Office as soon as you are called to service:

The Registrar’s Office will coordinate your leave of absence, assist with refunds, and help facilitate your return to the university. They will also notify your instructors, the Office of Student Accounts, Financial Aid, Housing, and other relevant departments of your military status.

National Guard/Reserves Refund Policy
In accordance with the PASSHE Board of Governors Policy 1983-19, students who are members of the National Guard or military reservists called to active duty by the President of the United States or the Governor of Pennsylvania are eligible for a full refund of tuition.
