Hazel Rork Schmuck Alumni Scholarship

HAZEL RORK SCHMUCK ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

If students meet the criteria listed below, they are eligible to apply for the Hazel Rork Schmuck Alumni Scholarship. Please review the guidelines and log into Scholarship Universe to complete an application.

Background:

This endowment was established in 1995 from a bequest by Hazel Rork Schmuck ’26. The Scholarships, Grants and Awards Committee of the Alumni Association will determine annually the number of scholarships and the amount to be awarded (minimum of award is $500*).

*Amount of award may vary pending current market value of investment on principal on account. 

Criteria:

  1. The student will have completed at least 30 credits, but no more than 60 credits, prior to the fall 2021 semester.
  2. The student will be a secondary education major.
  3. The student will be enrolled on a full-time basis at Millersville University.
  4. The student will have maintained a 3.0 overall G.P.A..
  5. The student will write an essay of approximately 200 words (typewritten, double-spaced) on a designated topic (selected annually by the committee--see application form for topic).
  6. The student will also list any extracurricular activities he/she participates in at Millersville, as well as external to the campus.
  7. The student will secure a letter of recommendation from a MU faculty member in the student's field of study. The letter is to detail “why this student deserves the scholarship”.
  8. The scholarship will be applied to the student’s university tuition account for the following full-time semester.
  9. The scholarship is awarded to the candidate who meets all the qualifications and has the highest score on the committee’s scoring process. In the event of a tie, the award will be split.

 

This is an annual scholarship. The endowment is held by the Millersville University Foundation.

MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS

THE MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize students for academic excellence and encourage them to continue their studies at Millersville University.

The annual award is given to:

  • The student with the highest GPA, as determined by the University, who has earned more than 57 but less than 72 credits upon completion of the spring semester.
  • The award winner must have been a full-time student during the current academic year.
  • A student who receives partial or full tuition waiver from any source is not eligible for this scholarship, but will receive a letter in recognition of his/her academic achievement.
  • A student may receive this award or any part thereof only once.

 

In addition to all the scholarship available from Millersville University, the Alumni Association sponsors four individual scholarships for students.
