Millersville University Alumni Association Committees

Whether your contribution is big or small, in time or financial support, the Alumni Association wants you to become active and engaged in your Alumni Association. If you are interested in serving on one of these committees please contact the chair(s) of the committee in which you are interested.

These committees typically meet four times a year:

Financial Planning Committee:
If you are a "number cruncher," have we got the committee for you! Use your expertise to help us manage the Alumni Association's funds. This group also develops the annual Alumni Association budget, which is approved by the board, and looks for event sponsors. They also preview benefits and services offered to alumni and make recommendations on investments and the Association's assets.

Scholarship, Grants & Awards Committee:
Did you know that the Alumni Association gives thousands of dollars in grants and scholarships annually to current Millersville University students? This committee helps develop award criteria and reviews grant applications and award nominations. Awards given out annually include Distinguished Alumni, Young Alumni Achievement, Honorary Alumni and Outstanding Volunteer Service.

Communications and Technology Committee:
Are you on Facebook? Twitter? LinkedIn? Do you have a valid email address? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you are needed on this committee. We need to be where our alumni are and most of them are online! This committee seeks ways to utilize social media and the Internet to keep in touch with Millersville University alumni and increase alumni engagement.

Alumni Engagement & Events Committee:
How can the Alumni Association engage our alumni and connect them with their alma mater? This committee assists the Advancement Division with initiatives including reunion giving, campaign giving, and the annual fund. The committee also supports engagement programs and events involving students and alumni, and it supports the efforts of Alumni Regional Coordinators. The committee works with departments and organizations across campus, including Admissions, the Experiential Learning and Career Management Office and the Student Alumni Association.

The Committee reviews, approves and hosts activities for MU alumni and friends. Members assist with the implementation of programs and recommend ideas for increasing attendance at alumni events. They also assist with the development of activities for alumni affinity groups and the continuous improvement of event planning.

Membership Committee:
Are you interested in assisting with the annual MUAA Board of Directors election process? If you are, then your involvement would be helpful to this committee. The Board Membership Committee is responsible for establishing relevant deadlines and procedures for the election of officers and Directors, promoting open Board positions, drafting a slate of nominees for each election; and ensuring the proper preparation of the ballot for each election.
