Dr. Joel Winnick

Dr. Winnick, Ph.D., ABPP, NCSP, HSP is a licensed psychologist. He is also a Board-Certified School Psychologist through the American Board of Professional Psychology and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist through the National Association of School Psychologists. Dr. Winnick’s clinical training includes a post-doctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and an additional post-doctoral fellowship at Geisinger Health System in Primary Care Integrated Behavioral Health. Dr. Winnick’s clinical work experience includes providing assessment, consultation, and intervention within pediatric medical specialty clinics at Geisinger Health System. While at Geisinger, Dr. Winnick achieved the rank of Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. Prior to Geisinger, Dr. Winnick worked for an Intermediate Unit within Pennsylvania as a school psychologist. Before completing his post-doctoral clinical training, Dr. Winnick worked as a Research and Evaluation Scientist at Penn State University where he focused on implementation science and translational research. Dr. Winnick’s current research interests include evidence-based assessment, consultation, and intervention for improving functioning across the areas of academics, psychopathology, and medical disabilities within school- and college-age populations. Dr. Winnick applies research approaches including implementation science, translational research, and program evaluation to examine the impact of evidence-based interventions delivered with high-quality and fidelity within school and medical settings. Currently, Dr. Winnick volunteers an elected executive officer of the American Board of School Psychology, a constituent Board of the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Winnick also volunteers as the Communications Chair of the School Psychology Committee for the Pennsylvania Psychological Association.
