Dr. Ralston earned her B.A. in psychology from Temple University where she was first introduced to research in Temple’s Adult Anxiety Clinic. Her research during this time focused on better understanding those who experience social anxiety. Upon graduation, Dr. Ralston spent two years at Fox Chase Cancer Center where she developed interests in working with underserved communities. From there she completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her dissertation focused on understanding transgender and gender diverse communities experiences with psychological research in order to improve research experiences for these communities. She completed her 1-year pre-doctoral internship at Yale University School of Medicine in the Pediatric Gender Program where she engaged in clinical activities with transgender and gender diverse children, adolescents, and their families.

Dr. Ralston’s clinical interests include providing psychotherapy and psychological assessment for underserved communities, particularly transgender and gender diverse, LGB, and rural communities. Dr. Ralston’s research interests include understanding experiences of marginalization stress for transgender and gender diverse communities, ways to cope with and mitigate this stress, and providing affirming spaces in clinical and research spaces.

During her doctoral training, Dr. Ralston taught clinically-focused courses to undergraduate students. She has also enjoyed mentoring undergraduate students on their research. Dr. Ralston looks forward to continuing teaching and mentoring students at Millersville University.
