Academic Placement Assessments
MATH PLACEMENT and BASIC SKILLS ASSESSMENTS: https://www.millersville.edu/math/placementtest.php
- If you have a major in the College of Science and Technology, or if you are a major in business, economics, exceptional education, psychology, or sociology you MUST take the Math Placement Assessment prior to the start of your first semester at Millersville University. The only students who are exempt from this assessment are those who have received AP/IB credit for Calculus (MATH 161) or higher or who have received college credit for an equivalent 100-level or above mathematics course.
- If you are an Undeclared Major, you MUST take the Math Placement Assessment prior to the start of your first semester at MU to support your major exploration.
- If you are an Early Childhood Major, you are required to take the Basic Skills Assessment. This assessment should be taken prior to the start of your first semester at Millersville University.
- If you are a Middle-level Education Major, you are required to take both the Basic Skills AND the Math Placement Assessments. These assessments should be taken prior to the start of your first semester at Millersville University.
- If you are a student in any other major, you should take the Math Placement Assessment at least two semesters prior to enrolling in your first MATH course.

CHEMISTRY PLACEMENT TESTING: https://www.millersville.edu/chemistry/
- If you are a Chemistry, Biology, Earth Sciences, Physics, MDLV major, OR a PREMED in another major, you must take the Chemistry Placement Test prior to the start of your first semester at Millersville University. The only students in the majors listed above who are exempt from this test are those who received AP/IB credit for CHEM 111 or who have received college transfer credit for a university approved equivalent CHEM 111 course.
- If your major requires CHEM 111 or if you plan to take CHEM 111, you must take the Chemistry Placement Test at least two semesters prior to enrolling in your first CHEM course.

- A placement assessment in French, German and/or Spanish is required for incoming students majoring in a world language. The placement assessment is also available to students who would like to begin their studies at an intermediate or higher level.
