Learning Outcomes

  1. Academic - Students will gain knowledge in a variety of subject areas, including the arts, humanities, social sciences, sciences, business, and education.
  2. Employment - Students will gain job seeking skills, knowledge of workplace etiquette, and skills specific to their chosen core academic areas.
  3. Socialization - Students will gain and practice interpersonal skills through participation in clubs, organizations, campus events, and other social opportunities.
  4. Independence - Students will develop independence in time management, attending classes and internships on time, problem solving, and navigating campus resources.

INTEGRATED STUDIES ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

During her time at MU, Lorna studied Social Justice. During her fourth year, she completed an internship with the Lancaster Recreation Commission. Initially thinking that she would want to work with the sports and recreation department, Lorna found her passion working with the seniors in the Senior Center. After graduating, Lorna accepted a job with the YMCA in her hometown.

While a student, Faith was an active member of the Expressions Dance Team as well as the ECHO Childcare Club. During her fourth year, Faith completed an internship with the YWCA of Lancaster. This internship was so successful that after graduation the YWCA offered Faith full-time employment. Faith has since moved into her own apartment and is enjoying the freedom of post-graduate life. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with friends and working out at the fitness studio that is walking distance from her apartment.

During her time as a student, Kellin was an active student-athlete competing with the Women’s Club Volleyball as well acting as the manager of the Cheerleading Team. Shortly before she graduated, Kellin applied for the Disney College Program. Kellin was accepted into the program and worked in the Animal Kingdom. Kellin currently works as different Peanut Characters at Carowinds in South Carolina.

Daniel is the first graduate of Integrated Studies from Millersville University. Danny started at Millersville in 2014 as the first pilot student for the initiative. During this time, Danny began his journey to find employment in the professional food service industry. He began to build his experience by completing an internship with Catering Services of Millersville University. After graduation, Danny’s passion for cooking landed him spots in the professional kitchen of Lancaster’s prestigious Press Room and the state-of-the-art cafeteria experience at Lancaster General Hospital.
