Prospective Students
Department of Computer Science
Are you considering Millersville University for a B.S. in Computer Science or Information Technology? We understand that students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and build an academic plan with each student. We take advisement seriously -- your academic advisor will be a full-time faculty member of the Department of Computer Science.
There are three main types of students who go through our program:
- New Students who have recently graduated from high school
- Transfer Students who have attended an institution prior to attending Millersville
- Second-Degree Students who have already earned a B.S. or B.A. degree from Millersville or another institution of higher education
New Students
If you are in high school or about to graduate, you are considered a new student! You may have earned (or will earn) college credit through one of the following ways:
- Dual-enrollment programs
- Advanced Placement examinations
- College Level Equivalency Placement examinations

Transfer Students
If you are currently at another institution of higher education and enroll in a degree program within the Department of Computer Science, you are considered a transfer student! You may have earned college credit through one of the following ways:
- Courses which transfer to Millersville (with a minimum grade of C- or higher)
- All earned credit opportunities for New Students
If you are transferring from one of the following institutions, please consult their respective pages below
- Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC)
- Reading Area Community College (RACC)
- Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology (TSCT)

Second Degree Students
If you have already earned a B.S. or B.A. degree from Millersville or another institution of higher education and enroll in a degree program within the Department of Computer Science, you are considered a second-degree student! You will have earned college credit through your original degree.
Depending on the scope of your degree, the following exceptions could be made (but not guaranteed)
- Waiving of certain General Education courses (e.g. COMP, SPCH, WELL, AW)
- Waiving of certain Required Related courses
