Biography
I earned my Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science at Temple University, an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh, and a B.S. in Computer Science from Purdue University. Before joining the Millersville faculty, I was Senior Editor at BYTE Magazine, and a Systems Analyst at Eastman Kodak and IBM.
I have participated in various funded research projects in human-computer interaction, computerized aids for the handicapped, the social impact of computing, and educational computing. I am the author of the book "Software Developer's Sourcebook,", numerous papers and articles, have made presentations to a wide range of organizations, and have provided expert witness testimony to the PA Department of Education, the PA House of Representatives, and the National Research Council's National Cryptographic Policy Committee.
I am a member of the Association for Computing (ACM), and a former member of its US Public Policy Committee. I am currently a Commissioner of the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. I was formerly the Mid-Atlantic Regional Director for Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility, and the former President of the PA Association for Computer and Information Science Educators.
I have been a member of the faculty at MU since 1981. My research interests are in human-computer interaction, assistive technology for the disabled, and computer ethics.
