Watershed Education Training Institute
About Us
Under the umbrella of the Millersville University Center for Environmental Sciences (MUCES) the Watershed Education Training Institute (WETi) was established in 2015 by Drs. John Wallace (Biology) and Nanette Marcum - Dietrich (Education Foundations) and inaugurated in 2016. Located on Millersville campus at Creek Lodge, WETi provides a variety of watershed conservation programs for people of all ages and backgrounds.
The facility provides an ideal location to hold field classes for Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Geography courses as well as science education classes within the College of Education. Funding provided through multiple external grants provides WETi with the ability to organize and host several educational workshops for children and adults through-out the year.
WETi works with local collaborators (the Stroud Water Research Center, Lancaster Conservancy, Lancaster County Community Foundation, Resource Environmental Solutions, LLC, OLNI and Pennsylvania State Parks) to bring the highest quality curricula and science driven research to its programs.
Our Mission
Is to foster watershed stewardship and student/faculty research for the region through the development of innovative science-based programs, address the impacts of historically destructive land-use practices and policies across multiple watersheds, while training and educating people of all ages and backgrounds on watershed advocacy and research.
