Responsibilities
Oversees the crisis communications plan for the University and acts as the University’s spokesperson. Directs the writing and editing of articles for the Millersville News blog, the Review Magazine, the President's Updates and the President's Annual Report. Provides counsel, strategy and media training and works directly with outside media.
Biographical information
Janet Kacskos, APR, Fellow PRSA, is Millersville University's communications director. She has been with the University since March 2005 and has over 30 years of public relations experience. In addition to MU, she served as communications director for Metropolitan State College of Denver and National University in San Diego.
Kacskos was also a journalist and worked in high-tech PR, assisting Fortune 500 clients. She has extensive experience in crisis communications, media training, media relations, executive writing, counsel and strategy.
Active in the Public Relations Society of America for many years, Kacskos served as president for the Central PA and Greater Salt Lake chapters. She received the Certificate of Accreditation in Public Relations credential in 2000 and was named a PRSA Fellow in 2011.
She is an alumna of the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she received a bachelor's degree in journalism and from the University of Colorado, Denver, where she received a master's degree in communication.
