Plant Sciences Option
Degree: B.S.
Millersville University’s plant sciences program is an option within the Biology major, and graduates receive a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology with an option in plant sciences. This program has been designed to first develop strong biologists, and second to develop “specialists” within the diverse field of plant sciences.
Why Study This Program?
Plant science students are curious about how plants work and enjoy solving pressing environmental problems. They can explore their curiosities through Millersville University's plant sciences option. The program is designed for students who wish to specialize in the study of plants in preparation for graduate study or for careers in the diverse fields associated with the plant sciences. You have the opportunity to select coursework that will prepare you for careers in conservation, plant propagation, genetic plant engineering, horticulture, forestry, agriculture, plant ecology and the floral industry. Experienced faculty members prepare students to meet the challenges of today's world and to be ready for the unknown challenges of the future.
What Will You Learn?
The rigorous plant sciences curriculum will provide you with both a depth of knowledge in plant sciences and a broad background in biology. As an understanding of plant sciences requires an understanding of the physical world, this program incorporates extensive coursework in chemistry, physics and mathematics. Faculty members of the biology department also maintain active research projects geared toward the participation and training of undergraduates in the advancement of biological knowledge.
