Why Study This Program?
Share your passion for a specific subject with 4th to 8th grade students through Millersville University's Middle Level Education program. This program is designed to provide passionate students with an in-depth knowledge of one of the specialized content areas: English and language arts, mathematics, science or social studies.
Students who complete this program receive a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.E.) degree in Middle Level Education with options in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science or Social Studies. Upon completion of the Middle Level Education program, you may also apply for a Pennsylvania Instructional I teaching certificate.
Millersville University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and approved by the American Association of University Women.
What Will You Learn?
The direction for your course work at Millersville University will be partially dictated by your chosen specialization in English and language arts, mathematics, science or social studies. However, in addition to that concentration area you will also take courses in each of the remaining content areas to broaden your understanding of Middle Level Education.
All MU education programs involve a Foundations Block which explores modern teaching and the psychology of teaching, Professional Blocks which focus on instructional technology and positive learning environments, and a semester of student teaching.
