The Dr. Charles R. and Anita B. Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center hosts cultural and artistic events at Millersville University in Millersville, PA. Featuring 2 large concert halls, art gallery, and dedicated spaces for instruction and practice by our students, the Winter Center is the hub of creative and artistic expression on our campus.
Education Spaces at the Winter Center
In addition to our performance and exhibition halls, the Winter Center has spaces dedicated to our Visual and Performing Arts programs. The Steinman Foundation Recording Studio, Isaacson Dance Studio, a cutting-edge Yamaha Clavinova piano lab, and 17 practice rooms can all be used by instructors and students to broaden their skills and craft their art at Millersville. Atlantic and Pacific recording studios are also available for students for coursework and professional use.
Performance Halls
Formerly known as the Lyte Auditorium, the Winter Center underwent extensive renovations and upgrades in 2011 and reopened to the public October 12, 2012. Our facility boasts several state-of-the-art performance halls and spaces for collaborative learning. The Clair Performance Hall, which can seat 650, hosts our on-campus musicals, dances, commercial ensembles, and larger performances. The Biemesderfer Concert Hall, with seating for 290 people, has world-class advanced acoustics to create optimal sound conditions for each performance. The Susan C. & Gerald C. Eckert Art Gallery is used for local and national tours of art exhibitions. In these spaces, we host both local and international artists, along with university ensemble concerts, student-led performances, and recitals.
