About the Exhibition ...

With this exhibition, I hope to connect the engineering and art departments.  Around the room are distributed many pieces that require technology and equipment that is familiar to the engineer and artist alike.  While the tools may be used for different purposes in the art and engineering worlds, it can be a huge asset to understand how the intersection between the engineering and artistic design components that help both sides to challenge and push their work to new heights.  I hope that this exhibition provides a brief taste of a future where art and engineering blend and grow together, and provides insight to show that art and engineering are not so far removed from one another.

About the Artist ...

Zachariah Severn is a senior at Millersville University who will be graduating Spring 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology and a minor in Fine Art Metals.  His interest in the arts flourished in High School with a point and shoot and DSLR camera, along with editing software such as Photoshop to bring his pieces to life.  The dual focus in college of Engineering and Art provided the perfect atmosphere and allowed him the opportunity to stretch and grow his skill set and ideas.  With this open approach, he strives to create new and uniquely functional art alongside beautiful mechanical equipment and tools.  After college, Zachariah hopes to pursue a future in manufacturing design and metalworking to continue to use this combination to create pieces that can be individually enjoyed, or mass produced for all to have.
