About the Exhibition ...

Overgrown, a showcase of recent works, highlights the intersection between nature and the mind.  Attached to these works are themes of emotional turmoil and darkness that coexist with the imagery of a beautiful landscape.  The artist, Heidi Nauss, works with the landscape to communicate their intended themes and the feelings associated with those themes.  Not only do the works communicate through the use of texture and color, but also through symbolism.  The symbols found within these works are often indirect and are placed into each composition with delicacy and intention.  The works in this show are experimentations with the paint process and the show title.  Ovegrown, explores the idea that nature always heals itself no matter the damage that has been done.

About the Artist ...

Heidi Nauss is an artist based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  She was born in York, Pennsylvania in 2001, and later moved to Lancaster to attend Millersville University and pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.  Heidi utilizes oil paint as their primary medium, and also works with charcoal and non-traditional materials.  She creates paintings that illustrate the intersection between nature and the troubled mind by using indirect symbolism.  More specifically, each piece is rooted in various subjects including mental health, past memories, and self perception.  When creating works of art, Heidi is experimental with her approach to the painting process and often starts each painting with a new method of creating the composition.
