About the Exhibition ...
Rayne Nevins’ solo exhibition, Echoes of Unconformity, delves into the deconstruction of gender, sex, and beauty within their work. The exhibition features hand-thrown ceramics, printmaking, and drawing—each medium deeply influenced by figure drawing and the human form. In their ceramic pieces, Rayne carves multiple human figures onto the surface using a technique called sgraffito, while their 2D works focus on individual figures, emphasizing texture and value. Rayne describes their style as “rough around the edges,” with the work’s irregular quality mirroring the imperfection of the human body. Through their art, Rayne hopes viewers can see themselves reflected in the pieces.
About the Artist ...
Rayne is an artist originally from Rockymount, North Carolina, but now lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania attending Millersville University. They are currently obtaining their BFA degree and intend to graduate in May 2025. Rayne has been working as a ceramic studio technician in Millersville’s art department and has held the title of President of the Slip & Score Society for several semesters. Rayne’s work shows their admiration for the natural human form, and all of the varieties and identities it comes in.
