Academic Offerings
Millersville University places a strong emphasis on the liberal arts. This prepares students for a lifetime of learning and gives them a background in writing, speaking, analysis, and critical thinking across a broad range of subjects. Millersville baccalaureate degree programs have four common curricular elements:
- proficiency requirements in English composition and speech
- the general education program
- the major field of study
- elective courses

Millersville University offers a world-class faculty matched by exceptional hands-on learning experiences.
Within this framework, students have many choices in developing programs of study to meet the minimum of 120 credits required for graduation.
The general education program has requirements in writing, speaking, humanities, natural sciences and mathematics, social sciences, and interdisciplinary and/or multicultural study. There is also a health and physical education requirement.
Millersville offers a University Honors college, departments honors programs, independent study, a pass/fail option, remedial courses, and special advisement to students who are undecided about a major.
The university operates on a 4-1-4 academic calendar with summer sessions and winter sessions.
