ABOUT DR. CHEN

Dr. Baizhou Chen is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Finance at the Lombardo College of Business at Millersville University. Prior to joining Millersville, Dr. Chen was a full-time  accounting faculty at Penn State University. In addition, Dr. Chen served as a full-time faculty at the University of Minnesota Crookston.

Previous to his work at Penn State, Dr. Chen served as a Senior Assistant Controller for about three years at Oracle Corporation, where he focused on executing controllership over Oracle’s Global Business Units, Debt and related reconciliations, Swap Mark-to-Market, Cash Management, Hedging, Foreign Exchange, Investments, and Stock Repurchases.  He was heavily involved with evaluating and integrating the financial's of Oracle’s $9.3 billion acquisition of NetSuite Inc.  Dr. Chen also spent 5 years with the Metropolitan New York office of Ernst & Young (EY), one of the big 4 accounting firms, where he was selected to mainly serve the firm’s Office of Chairman clients and Global Priority clients.  While at EY, he was invited by the firm’s Far East Telecom and Technology Industry Leader to expatriate from EY New York to EY Beijing office for six months.

Dr. Chen is a Certified Public Accountant registered and licensed in both the states of New York and California. He passed all the four parts of the CPA Exam and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Exam (i.e. Series 65 Exam) in his first attempt.

Dr. Chen received his Bachelor of Science degree and graduated with distinction from the University of Minnesota, where he was awarded the prestigious Michael Chowdry Entrepreneurial Scholarship.  He was awarded a full Research Assistantship and graduated from the MBA in Public Accounting program at the St. John's University in New York, an AACSB-accredited university. While at St. John’s, he was selected to participate in, and successfully completed, the highly selective Executive-In-Residence program. Dr. Chen received the Outstanding Graduate Award when he earned his Doctor of Business Administration degree from the AACSB-accredited Jacksonville University. His dissertation is Litigation Risk, Financial Crisis, and Non-GAAP Financial Reporting.
