Letter from Council of Trustees

Dear University Community,

I am writing to provide an update on the Presidential Search process at Millersville University. At the March 28 Council of Trustees public meeting, three trustees were selected to serve as members of the Presidential Search Committee (PSC) under the provisions of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education policy for filling presidential vacancies. The three trustees selected are Ms. Caroline Hoffer, Esq., who will chair the PSC, and Dr. Robert Frick and Mr. Gerald Robinson, Esq.

I am also pleased to inform the campus community that, in consultation with the Chancellor, the Council of Trustees selected Witt/Kieffer to serve as the consulting firm for the Presidential Search Committee. Mr. John Thornburgh, Senior Vice President at the firm, will represent Witt/Kieffer and assist the PSC in its search for Dr. McNairy's successor. Mr. Thornburgh will be on campus Wednesday and Thursday, April 25-26, to meet with the PSC and to conduct meetings with various constituent groups. He will be seeking their counsel on what they perceive to be major challenges ahead for our next president and what attributes, skills and characteristics they believe the next president will need to be successful. Mr. Thornburgh will also hold an Open Forum on April 25, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m., for all students, faculty and staff not involved in one of the constituent meetings to provide input. Invitations to these meetings will be sent in early April.

The full Presidential Search Committee membership will be posted as soon as all selections have been made. Please check back for further updates and a working timeline that is being developed for conducting the search.

Sincerely,

Michael G. Warfel, Chairman

Millersville University Council of Trustees
